使命宣言

The Ashland University 写作 and Communication Center (WCC) adheres to the University’s mission, 愿景, and value statements by providing students individualized academic support in every discipline on any project involving written, 口服, or 数字 communication. We approach communication as a complex and individualized process and seek to help students learn what works best for them when engaging with this process. Our goal is to help students become more aware, 自信, and autonomous communicators.

Foundational Principles

The WCC is deeply grounded in four foundational principles that guide our approach to supporting students' productive endeavors.

  1. We embrace the process approach, recognizing that writing and communication are complex and iterative processes. Not only do we focus on the final product but also on the various stages of brainstorming, 起草, 修改, 和编辑.

  2. We believe in individualized learning, understanding that each student has unique strengths, 弱点, and learning styles. We tailor our guidance and feedback to address specific needs, fostering personal growth and development.

  3. We prioritize skill transfer and autonomous learning, aiming to equip students with the tools and strategies they need to become independent communicators across the curriculum. We encourage students to apply what they've learned in our sessions to their future academic tasks.

  4. We embrace mindfulness and inclusivity, creating a safe and supportive environment where students from diverse backgrounds and experiences feel valued and respected. We strive to understand and appreciate their perspectives, fostering a sense of belonging and promoting inclusive writing and communication practices.

Through these principles, we empower students to become more aware, 自信, and autonomous communicators.
